In 1999, Trimeris entered into a strategic alliance with Roche in order to expedite the global development, approval, and commercialization of T-20 (FUZEON®) and T-1249. Roche has a highly trained and experienced team of HIV sales representatives and clinical support specialists. In return, Trimeris has granted exclusive marketing rights to Roche for the leading drug candidates in an important new class of anti-HIV agents. This alliance structure allows Trimeris to retain a significant economic interest and a major strategic role in the research, manufacturing, and commercialization of its fusion-inhibitor drugs.
